  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil until the butter melts.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms.
  3. Let cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Pipe heart shapes onto parchment paper or directly into the hot oil and fry until golden brown (about 2 minutes per side).
  6. Drain on paper towels and toss in the cinnamon sugar mixture while warm.
