- Preheat oven to 350℉.
- In a small pan, toast the pecan pieces until fragrant, then set aside to cool.
- Peel, core, and chop apples into small chunks, about 1/2 inch.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar, then add egg and mix until fluffy.
- Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Mix just until combined.
- Add the apples and pecans, and mix well. The batter will be sticky and wet from the apples.
- Pour and press the batter into a buttered 8×8 baking dish or lined with parchment.
- Bake for 30-45 minutes or until golden brown across the crust, about 35 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool in pan for about 15 minutes before slicing.
- Cut into squares and serve.
