Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
For Frying
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
Toppings
  • optional chocolate syrup for drizzling
  • optional strawberries for serving

Method
 

Prepare the Batter
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Fry the Funnel Cakes
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Using a ladle, pour the batter in a circular motion into the hot oil, forming a spiral shape.
  3. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  4. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve
  1. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with optional toppings.
