Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil divided
  • 4 6-oz. salmon fillets patted dry with paper towels
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced into rounds

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Medium bowl
  • whisk

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 2 Tbsp. of olive oil. When the oil is hot but not smoking, add the salmon skin side up, and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the flesh is heated through and seared, about 2 minutes.
  3. Flip the salmon skin side down, add the remaining 1 Tbsp. oil, and add minced garlic. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour the honey mixture and add lemon slices, cooking and basting the salmon occasionally, until the sauce is reduced by about one-third, about 3 minutes more.
